How to Mix Henna For Red, Auburn, Strawberry Blonde Hair Dye

Natural, pure henna is a wonderful safe, chemical free natural hair dye. 

Henna safely covers gray hair, deepening and brightening brown hair and adding a beautiful reddish shine. 


You can achieve beautiful shades of red through dark brown and black by adjusting your henna with other herbs such as chamomile, indigo, cassia or amla. 


Henna will keep your hair soft and shiny!




For For Red, Auburn, Strawberry Blonde Hair Dye



Things You'll Need :


Natural Henna Powder

Mixing Liquid: Orange or Lemon Juice, Chamomile Tea
Mixing Bowl and Spoon
Measuring Cup
Old Towls or Rags
Paper Towels
Saran Wrap or Plastic shower Cap
Plastic Gloves
Carrot Bag or Cone/Plastic Bag for easy application to roots


Procedure :



--Mix Henna Paste


Mix 1 Cup henna powder with 1 Cup orange juice.


Cover with plastic wrap and leave overnight or 12 hours at 70 degrees.


Add 1/2 Cup to 1 Cup purified water till it's a yogurt like consistency.


The henna paste mixture is ready to use after 12 to 24 hours.





--Protect your skin, clothes and work area


Pin an old towel or rag around your neck to prevent clothing and shoulders from becoming stained.


You can apply a light coat of vaseline along temlples and hairline on forehead to prevent skin from becoming stained.





--Prepare your hair


For the best, most even coverage of roots apply the henna paste in sections.


Divide your hair into 4 or more sections depending on length and thickness.


Clip each section to hold it out of your way.

Wearing gloves while you apply the henna paste will prevent your hands and nails from becoming stained



--Apply henna paste


Working with one section of hair at a time apply henna paste beginning at the roots.


Continue applying henna paste through the section of hair in small chunks making sure each area is thoroughly covered.


Work henna paste all the way to the ends of the hair.


Move on to the next section of hair.


When all your hair is evenly covered with henna paste, pile it on the top of your head


Pinning or clipping the pile of hair to hold it in place.

 


--Wrap up your hair


When all your hair is evenly covered with henna paste, pile it on the top of your head.


Pinning or clipping the pile of hair to hold it in place may be helpful.


Wrap your head with saran wrap or a plastic shower cap to prevent the paste from drying out or staining furniture.




--Keep Warm


Henna works best with a bit of warmth. For richer, deeper color use a blow dryer to keep your hair warm.



 

--Rinse out the Henna Paste

Using cool water and a conditioner only rinse the henna paste out of your hair. You may want to use a sink with a drain catcher to prevent your plumbing from being gunked up.




--Relax


The first 24 to 48 hours after coloring your hair safely and naturally with henna the color may be quite bright. Relax, don't worry. Over 1 to 2 days the color will tone down and look natural and healthy.
